We saw this on PBS and thought it looked fun--it was definitely worth the drive from the other side of Scottsdale. They offer an excellent drink menu, and the Piñata Bomb, Horchata Hell Up, and Hibis-Kiss will not disappoint if the menu descriptions pique your interest. We started with the Elote, and it was absolutely delightful. I had the Chile Relleno Burro, and the flavors were fantastic. Meat is optional and truly unnecessary, as the vegetarian option is just that good. My partner had the Mole Enchiladas, and as a self-proclaimed Mole aficionado with high standards, she loved it--that's high praise! The food may take a few minutes, but it's well worth the wait, as the freshness shines through in every bite. The service was top-notch, even though it was quite busy. The ambiance is lovely, with attention to decor and plenty of charming little displays that add to the experience.

This place has the best mole in Phoenix! The owners mom is cooking most of the dishes in the back. The owners are always around to entertain. The staff clearly love working here and it is not hard to see why. This place offers an experience of being welcomed into someone's home and being part of the family. I love any excuse to go for tacos or just a drink. Highly recommend a visit and getting the mole.

The restaurant was super busy but I got seated right away and Ian was quick with drinks and menu suggestions. The vibes were right and I'll definitely be back for another Xolo burrito

I'll start this off my saying I lived in LA for a while and I think Southern CA Mexican food is the best. I have a hard time finding Mexican food I like in AZ so a 4 star for me in AZ is probably a 5 star for anyone else. We saw Xolo on Check please and decided to try it out on 3/1. It's in a little strip mall on 7th street and Thunderbird near Tapatio Cliffs resort. It's a cute, lively little spot and we sat outdoors on the patio. (Which is dog friendly) They have a QR code to pull up the menu. There wasn't one on our table but the lady next to us offered hers. All of the food was good and solid. Some of the best we've had in AZ - just still doesn't make my 5 So Cal (or Mexico) 5 star threshold. The chips come in a little paper basket which is a little random. But they were good as was the salsa. We ordered a cheese crisp and then my husband asked if he could get cheese enchiladas (not on the menu) and they were very accommodating. He loved them. I got one chicken taco and one carne asada taco. The meat was well cooked on both and both the corn and flour tortillas were tasty. I did need to add salsa to both to give a bit more flavor/zip. I live in south Scottsdale so not sure I would drive that far on a regular basis but I would definitely go back if in the area or to meet friends that live up that way.

Stopped by after the WMO. Ordered the nachos con al pastor and green chili beef burrito. The green chili stewed beef was amazing, spicy. I'd go back just for that. On secon thought, I should have got that on my nachos. Next time. Service was good, and it wasn't busy mid afternoon on a Friday. I would go back for their taco Tuesday deal.

We had a lovely 4pm Friday happy hour including $6 margaritas and $2 off the fantastic elote appetizer that I forgot to take a picture of, sorry. The bartender Regina made each margarita, not pouring from a vat. Mine had tajin rim, so my friend eventually switched from table salt to tajin too. Smile. We contemplated moving to the patio but loved the charming company. The inside is brightly colored and fun with neon and a mix of tables, bar and patio. Fire heaters are fun, and add to the patio vibe. We will try it soon! After two margaritas it was time for food. They will tell you about the happy hour specials but I never found a menu. $2 off special cocktails and appetizers plus $6 margaritas and a beer deal. Till 8pm! My eloté was creamy with an orangey mayo sauce and the corn was perfectly cooked. I probably should have ordered chips, but we forked it up as a side dish! Friend had never had such a dish and was pleased too My friend ordered TacoDillas which are griddled with melty cheese your choice of meat, then folded and topped with lettuce and tomato. Anyway she had one barbacoa and one shrimp and raved about them. They were quite large and very filling. I tasted a shrimp, it had what looked like fajita veggies in the filling too. Yum! The carne street tacos are not as large. I debated ordering three but ended up starting with one carne asada and an asado ranchero with onions and peppers. I love the cotija cheese with onions and cilantro on top. Missed the guac but wouldn't want a full appetizer order here. Loved both the charred steak and its veggie inclusive partner, more perfectly charred pieces of quality steak with peppers and onions. Only one really spicy bite from the Serrano peppers in the whole taco. So when I finished eating both of my delicious carne asada tacos, I was still hungry. So... Mas tacos please! I ordered a single tacodilla with barbacoa, on a corn tortilla to meet my food restrictions. It at first came out on flour tortilla and our bartender recognized immediately that it needed to be remade and swept it away. When the replacement arrived, it was hot, gooey and cheesy, muy deliciouso. Quite everything I had hoped it would be. We both loved both the salsas, the medium wasn't a roasty salsa but it was super tasty. The one that was supposed to be hot wasn't actually all that deadly. When we arrived at 4:00, there were only two other people dining. Maps said "busier than ever" but wrong! It was definitely pretty busy by the time we left, so don't sleep on this great little Mexican restaurant! Already craving another tacodilla, baby!

Food here is really good. We stumbled into here by accident really. It is quaint but nice inside. The owners are so nice and we know the staff too. They take care of us. It can take a minute for food if the place is cranking. If you don't like waiting for food sometimes, this isn't for you. It is worth the wait. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Taco Tuesday kills: 5 good size tacos and a beer for a spot. That won't even get you a drink in Scottsdale. The ambiance is nice and we already have a favorite table. The brunch is good too. Sunday's they close by 4:00 p.m., so hustle up. There is a small outdoor patio with limited seating. It is great for this time of year. XOLO - This is a breed of Dog relegated to Mexico. Tons of references to that inside with the decor and pictures. Check it out! Cool little place! #irishcatv2

So my husband saw an ad for a special on Tuesdays, 5 street tacos & a beer for $10. So we thought we'd try them out! We will definitely be back! The tacos were delicious & the beer was cold! Our server Alex was awesome & the ambience was bustling. We even made new friends who were also there for the first time! It was a great night! I just forgot to take the pic BEFORE I started eating! Ha!Ha!
